Biografi SUICIDE SILENCE

SUICIDE SILENCE

Suicide Silence is an American extreme metal band from Riverside, California. The group consists of vocalist Mitch Lucker, guitarists Chris Garza and Mark Heylmun, drummer Alex Lopez and bassist Dan Kenny. Formed in 2002, the band has released three full-length studio albums, one EP and seven music videos. The group has been met with a great amount of praise and favorable reviews while even during 2009, Suicide Silence was awarded with the Revolver Golden God award for "Best New Talent".

HISTORY

Suicide Silence were founded in 2002 in Riverside, California and were at that time, a side-project of many of the members of other groups. The band performed their first show at a local area within Riverside and at that time, the line-up consisted of the members Chris Garza and Rick Ash as guitarists, Mike Bodkins as bassist, Josh Goddard as drummer and two vocalists, Mitch Lucker and Tanner Womack. Shortly after their first performance, Womack was fired from the band and they released their first demo the following year. They released their second demo in 2004. By the proceeding year, the members took the band more seriously and were no-longer deemed as a side project, they would then advance to record their third and final demo in 2006 after the band recorded and released their first public studio quality material entitled, Suicide Silence EP which was released through Third Degree Records and later re-released in the UK through the English label In at the Deep End Records. Drummer, Josh Goddard departed from the band in 2006 and was replaced by Alex Lopez who was the former guitarist for the bands Blacheart Eulogy and The Funeral Pyre before his joining.

Two years later, the band signed to Century Media and released their debut full-length album The Cleansing. The album was mixed by Tue Madsen, produced by John Travis and features artwork by Dave McKean. It debuted at number 94 on the Billboard 200,[6] selling 7,250 copies in its first week of release. The sales of that week ending combined with its later sales made The Cleansing one of the best-selling debut albums in Century Media history. With the success of their debut album, Suicide Silence were included to take part in Mayhem Festival that took place during the summer of 2008. Afterward, they toured Europe with Parkway Drive and Bury Your Dead, following a successful US tour with the same bands. Suicide Silence then followed along with a tour in Australia with Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember and The Acacia Strain in mid-2008 during the time when they were included to perform at Sweat Fest. At this point Suicide Silence were beginning to gain a wide range of fans throughout the world. While returning back home from the continuous tours, the band covered the song "Engine No. 9" by Deftones and released the cover on their limited edition "Green Monster" single as well as iTunes all during the same year.
No Time to Bleed (2008–2010)

Revolver described the band's live performances as "explosive and relentless".

Shortly before embarking on Mayhem Festival in summer 2008, Suicide Silence's MySpace profile title read "Suicide Silence (Is writing a new album)", which was the first indication of ensuring the upcoming of their second album. On June 26, 2008, Mitch Lucker appeared on the Headbangers Ball blog podcast. In the interview, Lucker stated that the album would be recorded through tracks as opposed of being recorded live, such as The Cleansing. He also said the new album would "blow The Cleansing away." Machine was chosen by the band to be the producer of the album. The title for it was revealed as being No Time to Bleed.

Suicide Silence began recording No Time to Bleed in February with production by acclaimed producer Machine and engineering by Will Putney. During Music as a Weapon as well as the band's Cleansing the Nation tour, they began to perform the songs "No Time to Bleed", "Your Creations", "Lifted" and "Wake Up" months before the release of the album. In April they received the Revolver Golden God award for "Most Innovative Band" and performed at the awards show. Suicide Silence were included on 2009's Pedal to the Metal tour, along with the bands Mudvayne, Static-X, Bury Your Dead, Dope and Black Label Society. During the same year, the group was awarded the Golden God award for "Best New Talent".

Suicide Silence released No Time to Bleed on June 30, 2009 through Century Media. The album peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200, selling 14,000 copies in the first week in the United States alone. The opening track from the album, "Wake Up" was released as a digital download-only EP which includes the original song, a live performance of it and a remix handled by Shawn Crahan of Slipknot. A music video was produced for the song as well and made its debut premiere on Fearnet. "Genocide" was released as the album's second single. Its music video was created in collaboration with Bloody Disgusting and a remix for the song was featured in the Saw VI soundtrack. Suicide Silence announced production for a music video for the song, "Disengage", of which was released as a single on April 20, 2010. The video for it was released during June 2010. The band played throughout the entire Warped Tour 2010 on the Altec Lansing Stage.[24] In October, the group began their first headlining tour in two years with support from MyChildren MyBride, Molotov Solution, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Conducting from the Grave.
The Black Crown (2011–present)

By 2011, Suicide Silence began preparing their third full-length album in Big Bear, California with Steve Evetts as the selected producer. During March, the group performed at California's Metalfest, and a week later, Nevada's Extreme Thing festivals, at both of these performances, the band confirmed that the new album would be titled The Black Crown.Working titles for the album were "Cancerous Skies", "Human Violence" and "Fuck Everything". When asked by Kerrang!, Lucker revealed that the album's lyrical themes would feature more of the personal topics that No Time to Bleed had in-concept rather than the anti-religious theme that The Cleansing held. Lucker explained "I still have the same beliefs and same views, but I'm more open to everything. At this point in my life, I don't see the good in making people hate you for something you say. This record [The Black Crown] is for everybody." The song "Human Violence" premiered on radio station Liquid Metal on May 13, 2011. The Black Crown was released on July 12, 2011 and sold over 14,400 copies in the United States alone during its first week of release, which had it debuting at position number 28 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The group was included on the line-up for the fourth annual Mayhem Festival, again playing on the Extreme Stage with other metal acts including Machine Head, Trivium and All Shall Perish during July and August 2011.

Styles and influences

Suicide Silence perform an extreme metal musical style known as deathcore, which is a fusion between death metal and metalcore. The band perform this style as well as gain influences from several other extreme musical genres such as black metal, grindcore, and mathcore. The mathcore elements can be seen in the varied speed changes and complex time signatures in the band's music. The vocals of Mitch Lucker are frequently fluctuating between death growls and high-pitched screamed vocals used in black metal. The drumming is very fast-paced, grindcore influenced, and employs a liberal use of double bass drumming and blast beats.

The band members themselves have stated that they are influenced from groups such as Meshuggah, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Necrophagist, Nile, Slipknot,

BRING ME THE HORIZON BIOGRAPHY

BRING ME THE HORIZON
Bring Me the Horizon are a British metalcore band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group consists of lead vocalist Oliver Sykes, lead guitarist Lee Malia, rhythm guitarist Jona Weinhofen, bassist Matt Kean and drummer Matt Nicholls. They are currently signed to Visible Noise Records in the UK, Epitaph Records in the US and to Shock Records in Australia. Their music has been said to be influenced diversely by grindcore, death metal and emo, and their earlier work is noted for its strong influence from American metalcore bands.[1] They have released three studio albums and one extended play.
The band released their debut album Count Your Blessings on 30 October 2006 in the UK. Their second album, Suicide Season was released 29 September 2008, while a remix of the album titled Suicide Season: Cut Up! was released a year later in November. Prior to the release of the special edition of Suicide Season: Cut Up!, founding rhythm guitarist Curtis Ward left the band due to commitment issues.[2] He was later replaced with Jona Weinhofen, formerly of I Killed the Prom Queen. Bring Me the Horizon's third studio album There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. was released 4 October 2010.

History

Formation, debut EP and debut album (2004–2007)

Bring Me the Horizon was formed in March 2004 after all the founding members, who had all been a part of several local and separately defunct bands were noticed by Thirty Days of Night Records and formed the band while signing them, being the first band ever signed to the label. In the months following their formation Bring Me the Horizon created a demo album, titled Bedroom Sessions, featuring two songs that would be re-recorded for their debut release. The band's name is derived from the final line of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in which Captain Jack Sparrow says "Now, bring me that horizon."
The group released their first EP, This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For on 2 October 2004. The EP was recorded in Nottingham over the course of two weekends, recording the drums and bass guitar in the first weekend and then guitars and vocals in the second weekend in the studio. It was re-released on 20 January 2005 through Visible Noise. The re-release of the EP gained the band a significant amount of attention, peaking at 41 on the UK album charts.
They released their debut, full-length album Count Your Blessings in October 2006 in the United Kingdom and in August 2007 in the United States. Across late November and December 2006 Bring Me the Horizon accompanied Lostprophets and The Blackout in a UK tour. In January 2007 Bring Me the Horizon replaced Bury Your Dead on Killswitch Engage's European headline tour. The slot as a support was offered as Bury Your Dead withdrew from the tour because of their vocalist, Mat Bruso, leaving the band.

Suicide Season and Ward's departure (2008–2009)

Lead singer, Oliver Sykes performing in Toronto, Ontario.
Bring Me the Horizon recorded their second studio album Suicide Season in Sweden with Fredrik Nordström. It was promoted viraly in the weeks following up to its release with the tagline "September is Suicide Season". In promotion of the new material from Suicide Season, the band embarked on their first headline tour of the United States, as well as appearing in the 2008 Warped Tour. In May 2008 Bring Me the Horizon was the main supporting band on I Killed the Prom Queen's farewell tour in Australia with The Ghost Inside and The Red Shore as supports. Although the tour was short (nine days long), it sold out rapidly. On 18 September 2008 Suicide Season was released in the United States on Epitaph and 29 September in Europe through Visible Noise.
In 2009 Bring Me the Horizon attended the 2009 Kerrang! Tour alongside Black Tide, Dir En Grey, In Case of Fire and Mindless Self Indulgence. They also joined Thursday, Cancer Bats, Four Year Strong and Pierce the Veil on the North American leg of Taste of Chaos 2009 across February to April. In March 2009 during the Taste of Chaos tour, guitarist Curtis Ward left the band. The band's guitar technician, Dean Rowbotham substituted for Ward on the remaining dates of Taste of Chaos, followed by Australian guitarist Jona Weinhofen, formerly of Bleeding Through and I Killed the Prom Queen, before being asked to join the group on a permanent basis.
In November 2009 Bring Me the Horizon released a remixed version of Suicide Season, titled Suicide Season: Cut Up! Musicians and producers featured on the album include Ben Weinman, Sonny Moore, L’Amour La Morgue, Utah Saints and Shawn Crahan. Musically, the album crosses in with many different genres; including electronica, drum and bass, hip-hop and dubstep. The dubstep style of the record has been acknowledged in tracks from Tek-one and Skrillex while the hip-hop elements are found in Travis McCoy's remix of Chelsea Smile. The Dillinger Escape Plan member, Benjamin Weinman's version of "No Need for Introductions I've Read About Girls Like You on the Backs of Toilet Doors" is considerably the most unique with its incorporation of industrial music. Later on, Sykes guested on the Admiral's Arms song "Dawn of the New Age", which appeared on the EP Stories Are Told, released on the same month as Suicide Season: Cut Up!.

There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. (2010–2011)

Jona Weinhofen performing live with Bring Me the Horizon in 2009; he joined the band in 2009 after leaving Bleeding Through.
The band's third album and first with their new rhythm guitarist Jona Weinhofen, titled There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret., was released 4 October 2010 and debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 in the US, number 13 on the UK Album Chart, and number 1 on the Australian Albums Chart, the UK Rock Chat and the UK Indie Chart. Despite reaching number 1 in Australia, the album's sales of 3,600 they gained to get there are the lowest in the history of the ARIA charts. Matt Nicholls describes the lyrical themes of There Is a Hell being "repercussions of everything we were singing about on our last CD [Suicide Season]", describing the music and lyrics as being a lot more moodier and darker. In 2010 members of Bring Me the Horizon (Jona Weinhofen, Lee Malia and Oli Sykes) guested on This One's For You by Australian rapcore band Deez Nuts (Sykes providing vocals on "If You Don't Know Now You Know"). Five singles total were released from the album including: "It Never Ends", "Anthem", "Blessed with a Curse", "Visions", and "Alligator Blood", with music videos included for each of the songs. In the immediate promotion of the album the band embarked on a headline tour in intimate venues across the United Kingdom with support from Cancer Bats and Tek-one.
In December 2010 Bring Me the Horizon joined Bullet for My Valentine as the main support band, along side Atreyu, in a short five date arena tour around the United Kingdom. To cope with high demand Live Nation released extra standing tickets to all dates. Rumours circled as to why Bring Me the Horizon sets were cut short at arenas, cited mainly to do with the shows becoming more violent and less controlable. When asked about the shows, Matt Nicholls said that the band was told that they couldn't climb on any of the stage equipment or set or interact with the crowd. The band opposed these rules by initiating walls of death.
In April 2011 Bring Me the Horizon started a European tour, starting in the United Kingdom they toured with Parkway Drive and Architects as main support bands, with The Devil Wears Prada as the opening support for the UK and dubstep group Tek-one opening for the remainder of continental Europe. The tour gained much publicity, it's classed as their biggest headline tour ever and even is stated as the "tour of the year" by Rock Sound. The tour, however, was not without its hindrances. On 28 April Matt Nicholls broke his arm whilst playing football with members of Bring Me the Horizon, Parkway Drive and Architecs, and instead of canceling the tour Architects' drummer Dan Searle filled in as the drummer, this meant that Bring Me the Horizon's setlist was halved in length. An also on 28 April at the Bristol O2 Academy, there was a power cut before Parkway Drive's set. Bring Me the Horizon as a reaction to the power cut decided to do a short 4 track acoustic set featuring: "The Sadness Will Never End", "It Never Ends", "Suicide Season" and "Chelsea Smile". The tour was extended with a North American leg from 31 August to 4 October maintaing Parkway Drive and Architects and including Deez Nuts onto the line up. On 23 August they released the fourth music video and single, "Visions". On 31 October, Halloween, the next music video for the song "Alligator Blood" was released.
On 13 October 2011 it was announced that Bring Me the Horizon was nominated for three Independent Music Awards. In the three categories Best Live Act, Independent Breakthrough of Year and Hardest Working Band or Artist. In December 2011 Machine Head completed an arena tour across Europe with Bring Me the Horizon as the main support band as well as DevilDriver and Darkest Hour as supports. Oliver Sykes has stated that these will be the last European dates they'll do before they start the writing and the recording of their fourth album Bring Me the Horizon's presence on the tour was met with mixed reception from fans, Dave Bowes of The Fly with a live review of their performance at SECC in Glasgow as "simply in the wrong place at the wrong time but they choose to be the better men..."
2011 concluded with an announcement by the band on December 29 of a new extended play titled The Chill Out Sessions, a collaborative effort with British DJ "Draper".Draper first released a "officially sanctioned" remix of the song "Blessed with a Curse" in May 2011 The EP was originally supposed to be released in time for New Year's Day and to be made available for download and purchase though Bring Me the Horizon's website. However, the EP's release was canceled because of the band's "current management and label situation"

Controversy

Nottingham incident

While on tour in the UK allegations were made against vocalist Oliver Sykes that he urinated upon a female fan after a gig at Nottingham Rock City. Sykes was subsequently charged with urinating on the fan. Online music zine Drowned in Sound claimed that Bring Me the Horizon were banned from Nottingham Rock City a claim that turned out to be false when the band subsequently played Nottingham Rock City on 1 December 2007. All charges against Sykes were later dropped due to lack of evidence.

YouTube video with Architects

During a tour, Bring Me the Horizon and Architects filmed a video showing a staged fight between Oliver Sykes and Architects' lead singer Sam Carter. The video was uploaded to YouTube and resulted in outraging many Bring Me the Horizon fans, believing it was real. This caused many to send hate mail towards Carter, whom later made it clear in an interview with Kerrang! that the whole thing was a joke, as did Sykes.

Musical style

Bring Me the Horizon is universally recognized as a metalcore band. Aside from this, the band's debut full-length album Count Your Blessings, on the other hand, was regarded as a deathcore release. Their music has been said to be influenced diversely by grindcore, mathcore, death metal and emo
Bring Me the Horizon pooled more diverse influences in preparation for the writing of their fourth studio album. Jona Weinhofen spoke out about how both he and Lee Malia developed affection for post-rock bands such as Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You. Weinhofen also once commented on how he would like to combine the heaviness of Bring Me the Horizon's typical work with the laid-back atmospherics of post-rock.

Biografi Sweet As Revenge

SWEET AS REVENGE

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

sweetasrevenge

Waktu berjalan, dan berdirilah Sweet as Revenge.

Band ini memulai karirnya sebagai sebuah side project yang ga punya juntrungan, just a bunch of metal kids jamming their axe-hard sambil menunggu band orisinilnya dapat panggilan manggung. Everything is new and new things stoked people! The Antics went higher, semakin banyak fans berat menunggu kehadiran mereka diatas panggung. Burgerkill sang Hardcore Begundal! Single terakhir menjadi sebuah jembatan ke era baru Burgerkill, dimana masa awal mereka lagu-lagu tercipta hasil dari pengaruh band-band Oldschool Hardcore, Name it: Minor Threat, 7 Seconds, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Sick of it All, Insted, Etc. So guys...these kids always have a great spirit to keep blowing their power, dan akhirnya mereka sepakat untuk tetap merilis album ke-3 "Beyond Coma And Despair" di bawah label mereka sendiri Revolt! A written story just wouldn't enough, tunggu kejutan dan dengarkan album baru mereka, tonton konsernya dan rasakan sensai musik keras yang tak akan kamu lupakan...BURGERKILL HARDCORE BEGUNDAL IN YOUR FACE, WHATEVER!!!

History

Formation and Try This with Your Eyes Closed (2004–2005)

Although the band's members first began playing together in Baltimore,[1] Maryland, Alesana officially formed in October 2004 in Raleigh,North Carolina and was founded by Shawn Milke, Patrick Thompson, Dennis Lee, Steven Tomany and Daniel Magnuson. The name of the band is inspired from Aliceanna St., which Shawn Milke and Patrick Thompson lived on when playing in Baltimore, MD. Aliceanna St. is located in Fells Point, a neighborhood in Baltimore. Alesana was the first band to join Tragic Hero Records in 2005,[2] and their 3 demo songs titled "Apology", "Beautiful in Blue" and "Goodbye, Goodnight for Good" were featured on the compilation All The Tragedy Money Can Buy. In May 2005 they released their debut EP, Try This With Your Eyes Closed. Alesana then toured across the United States, including an appearance at the Cornerstone Festival, despite not being a Christian band. In the same year, founding drummer Daniel Magnuson was replaced by Will Anderson.

On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax
 (2006–2008)

In 2006 the group added a new drummer Jeremy Bryan to replace Will Anderson and added guitarist/vocalist Adam Ferguson to their lineup.[1] They followed with a full-length album, entitled On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, produced by Kit Walters, during the summer of 2006. In late 2006 Alesana signed to Fearless Records, which re-released their LP in March 2007 to mixed reviews and released a music video for "Ambrosia". In the same year, the song "Apology" in an acoustic version was featured on the compilation release, Punk Goes Acoustic 2. The group played the entire Warped Tour 2007, but following afterward, bassist Steven Tomany left Alesana.
In early 2008, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax charted on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, peaking at #44.[3]

Where Myth Fades to Legend
 (2008-2009)

In 2008, Alesana finished recording their second album, Where Myth Fades to Legend. It was released on June 3, 2008, but was leaked on popular torrent sites a month beforehand.Where Myth Fades to Legend was also the title of their headlining tour with Sky Eats AirplaneOur Last NightLovehatehero, and The Chariot that supported the album. At the time of preparing for the record a year before, the band lacked an official bass player. Shane Crump, who previously played in a band named Your Name in Vain and originally a merchandise salesman for Alesana, was invited into the group after an audition, thus making the record Crump's debut. The record is also the first to feature Shawn Milke's sister, Mellissa, whom performs all female vocals.
On the 2008 Warped Tour, Shane Crump briefly left due to personal matters at home and Jake Campbell (Twelve Gauge Valentine guitarist) became a temporary fill in-bassist. Upon Crump's return, Adam Ferguson and the band parted ways and Cambell became rhythm guitarist.
On January 20, 2009 the music video for "Seduction" was officially released and on March 10, 2009 the album Punk Goes Pop 2 was released which includes Alesana's cover of "What Goes Around...Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake. Alesana's Where Myth Fades to Legend has also charted on the Billboard 200 at #96 and on the Billboard Hard Rock Album at #13.

The Emptiness
 (2009-2010)

In late February, Shawn Milke announced Alesana had started writing new material for their upcoming album. They began recording their third studio album, in July 2009, in Portland, Oregon, with producer Kris Crummett. The album, according to Shawn Milke on The Rave TV, would be entitled The Emptiness.[4] The band has made their progress in the studio viewable to fans through a Twitter account and an official website run by the band themselves. Concluding the band's recording session, which began on July 10, Alesana then set out for North Carolina to rest before they began their Vs. tour, which they headlined and included the bands The BledEnter Shikari, Broadway, Madina Lake, and Asking Alexandria. On the Vs. tour, Alesana's set included two new songs titled "To Be Scared By An Owl" and "The Thespian". Soon after concluding their month long Vs. tour, Alesana headlined the "You'd Be Way Cuter in a Coffin" Tour with From First to Last, Asking Alexandria, The Word Alive and Memphis May Fire.
On October 15, Milke and Lee held a second interview with The Rave, where they revealed that they were shooting a music video in the fall for one song from The Emptiness. The two members went on to tell Linda, the interviewer, that due to their large fan base in Mexico and South America, they would be releasing a Spanish version of 2 of their songs. Milke also revealed that the album, The Emptiness, was to be released on January 26, 2010.[5] On November 23, Alesana released their first recorded work off of The Emptiness, "To Be Scared By An Owl" and began to promote it as a single.[6] The same week, they entered the studio to begin filming their third video which according to their website, is "The Thespian", the song was released on December 8, 2009. In 2009, Alesana won the Best Hardcore/Screamo Band at the Rock on Request Awards.[7] The band were also invited to play "To Be Scared by an Owl" live on The Daily Habit.[8]
After the release of their music video for "The Thespian" on March 17, the group became less active while promoting the 2010 Warped Tour, which they took part in at the end of June.[9]Right before their first venue on the Warped Tour, guitarist Jake Campbell left the band to be with his family, and Alex Torres of Greeley Estates took his place.[10] Upon the release ofThe Emptiness, it debuted at #68 on the Billboard 200, which made it the best selling release by the band during this period.
On July 22, 2010, Milke made a statement on the official Revolver website, regarding his constant desire to write scripts, stories and music; considering The Emptiness his 'first printed story'. Milke went on to say that he is constantly writing, and that new material for an Alesana album—as well as material for Wake Me Up, Juliet and Tempting Paris—was already being created.[11] After The Emptiness's recording, the group announced a headlining tour entitled: Two Frail Weeks of Vanity and Wax, in which they performed On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax in its entirety on each date of the tour, along with confirming that some songs would never be played live again after these concerts. In November of 2010, Alesana departed from Fearless and signed to Epitaph Records.[12]

A Place Where the Sun Is Silent
 (2011–present)

During the beginning of 2011, the band confirmed that plans for a new record were already in the works. Alesana stated that chosen VIP's were involved within the testing of new tracks that were prepared to be included on their fourth studio album. These trackings were recorded during March 2011 with producer Kris Crummett.[13] By the beginning of that summer, Alesana completely finished the record's recording sessions. Alex Torres, Shane Crump, and Dennis Lee shortly thereafter confirmed that the mixing was finished as well and that they had the first master copies published. The name of the album was then announced to be titled, A Place Where The Sun Is Silent, and was released on October 18.[14]
Before its release, promotion for the record was supported by many magazines, websites and other publications. August 24, 2011 had Alternative Press premiere the first leaked song from the album, entitled "A Gilded Masquerade".[15] September 20th had Buzznet streaming "A Forbidden Dance" on their website as part of a contest for a lyric video.[16]
The album thematizes Dante Alighieri's 14th-century epic poem, Inferno.[17] On December 20, 2011, the song "Circle VII: Sins of the Lion" was voted the best song of 2011 by readers ofRevolver.[18]

Musical style and influence

Alesana's overall genre is difficult to determine due to their frequent use of light and poppy influence combined with heavy outputs and extreme metal vocals.[19] The band has been considered a wide array of many things, including metalcore,[20][21] emo,[22] post-hardcore,[23][24] and screamo.[23][25] Although these are the genres that Alesana is usually classified as, the band has labeled themselves as pop-metal,[26] and "sweetcore" (a term that was made-up by the group that parodies the cliché of genres that suffix in "core").[27]
Influences for the band include an array of rock bands such as The BeatlesSonic Youth and Mew.[28][29] The band is also influenced by an array of metal bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder and Iron Maiden.
